I'm so sorry to hear that David is no longer with us. We played saxophones together for three years in the Lab Band and had some amazing experiences. My favorite memory with David is when we played alternating solos (he tenor, me bari) during a performance at Brownwood our senior year of Outta Sight Osmosis (yes, that really was the name of the song - remember, 1971!). We just riffed off of each other on our Selmers and I completely forgot the audience, the judges, and the competition - I was just having a blast playing music with my friend. After high school he went north and I went west, and I moved on from music to psychology, but I have often reflected over the years with appreciation on his support and validation of me as a musician. Perhaps an ironic coincidence is that a few months ago I decided on a whim to order a new Selmer tenor sax, 50 years after I stopped playing. It's on back order, but when it arrives I'll recall with fondness the years I played with David, listening to and admiring the musical gifts he shared with me on his tenor sax. You are missed, buddy.

Both you and David were wonderful musicians. Those years, the Lab Band was an amazing group and I was proud to be part of it for a short time. I hadn't seen David since graduation, but remember him as a very nice guy who loved his music. My condolences to his family. I know he will be missed.

Janey,

So nice to hear from you and thank you for the kind words. Lab Band in those years was a truly one-of-a-kind experience for which I have been forever grateful. I didn't realize that you were in the band as well - I'm glad you had the chance to experience it too! I hope you and your family are well and it's nice to catch up with you here!

Warm regards,

Keith
