So sorry to hear about Mike!  Grateful to his wife for posting here. Bless her heart! heart

Remembering an Easter weekend at Port Aransas, with a bunch of us at the beach. Water was cold but didn't slow us down much. Tiny crowded hotel rooms. And a kiss on the beach from Mike I still remember. I think the guys even went to church that Sunday morning.  Impressive!

Precious sweet memories.

So so sorry to hear about Mike's passing. He was a great friend during our Mac days, very sweet, always kind and caring. I liked him a lot and considered him one of the all time good guys. Very sorry for your loss. Peace and comfort to his entire family.

I have so many memories of Mike.  Like Mandy I remember that coast Senior Spring Break with Mikes  feet being so sunburned they looked like raw meat.  We went to UT at the same time and did many things together.  Mike, John Chelkowski, David Anderlitch and Steve Schwin were room mates and Carol Childress and I were room mates senior year.  The guys came over to our apartment for dinner on at least 1 occasion, and I think only starving males could eat that much food that quickly!

When I was 25 I discovered I had cancer, and Carol, John and Mike came from San Antonio to Austin to cheer me up with a picnic in Zilker park and a trip to an amusement park.  Mike was such a hoot to be around, he had a way of finding the humor in life and shared it generously.  He was funny, thoughtful, and caring.

My prayers for Mikes family.

So sorry to hear this news. Mike was a gem, with such a big heart, and so many jokes! Remember a trip to Austin during Senior year when he kept us in stitches the whole way up and back. I'm sure he brought love and light to many over the years, and will be missed.

I knew Mike mostly in passing, but was always impressed by his quick smile and good disposition.  Everyone that knew Mike liked him and his good sense of humor.  His chuckle was infectious and he loved to laugh.  I am so sorry to hear of his passing, an occurrence among classmates that now seems to happen all to frequently.

I got to know Mike through JV football. He was a person you instantly liked and talked with.

I recall Mike could easily become hypogycemic ... maybe from an insulin overdose from daily treatment of diabetes. Carried a bag of M&Ms that he was trained to eat just in case he started having a reaction. Story goes that after practice, he had a reaction in the locker room and started munching the M&Ms.  Either Vern or one of his coaches snatched the bag from his hand.  That coach was fortunate to have avoided Mike's ensuing haymaker.

Rest in peace, brother.

I was shocked when I heard the news of Mike's passing. He was a Great Friend in our years at Mac.  We had lost touch with eachother until several years ago and we had a good conversation over the phone and had shared some emails back and forth.

Mandy you were correct we did go to Church that Sunday during Spring Break; that was part of the deal with our parents in letting us go to Port A. Sitting in that Church with a tremendous hangover after the previous days festivities was torture.

I have nothing but good memories when it comes to Mike (Squatty).  RIP

My heartfelt condolences to Mike's family he will be missed.
