In Memory of Meghan Yvette Jones-Guinn April 19, 1953 - September 11, 2015 Obituary Meghan Yvette Jones-Guinn passed away September 11, 2015. She was born April 19, 1953 in San Antonio, Texas to parents, William and Genevieve Jones. In 1989, during a trip to Ski-Bowl on Mt. Hood, Meghan met a very flirtatious gentleman by the name of Ken Guinn. June 19, 1991, they married in the beautiful Portland Rose Garden. Meghan graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School, San Antonio, in 1971. Later on, she graduated from the East West College of Healing Arts, 1998, to become a skilled massage therapist, and then furthered her career into sports therapy. In 2008, she earned her Bachelor's degree from Eastern Oregon University. Meghan had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, skiing and hiking. She loved the water, diving, swimming, and snorkeling. She swam with dolphins, manta rays and even an octopus. She was very adventurous and basically loved all things outdoors. Her adventurous side oftentimes showed up while she was driving.a little too fast for some. Sewing and quilting were just a couple of her hobbies. She enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb that kept her houseplants very healthy and happy. She was also a very talented cook, showing her love to family and friends, with her outstanding meals. She spent much of her time volunteering within the community. She was the leader for three years for Patchwork Pals, volunteered with babies in need and with Meals on Wheels for seniors at the Community Center. She was secretary for the Grateful Women, a wine drinking club. She volunteered with PGE and their hot air balloon exhibitions to help ensure the balloons made safe landings. She was also asked by PGE to head up their 'Demand Buy Back' project. Meghan was a member of New Heights Church for the last four years and was Curriculum/Publicity and Greeter Coordinator for their Quest Bible Study Group. Meghan will be remembered, as her grandchildren say, as a sweet, kind and really good person. She gave good hugs, made really good food and was creative. They loved decorating gingerbread cookies with her, frosting cupcakes and spending every Thanksgiving with grandma. Meghan is described as being a wonderful mother, grandmother and the best wife ever. "We know her Lord welcomed her into His arms and is bringing her eternal love and comfort" says her daughter, Tahana. Meghan is survived by Ken, her loving husband of 24 years; her daughter Tahana (Ryan) Salvadalena; grandchildren, Ethan, Elisia and Samuel; her stepdaughter, Amy Weed and many "adopted" daughters. A memorial service will be held at the New Heights Church Main Campus, 7913 NE 58th Avenueon Wednesday, September 23 at 1:30 pm. Arrangements entrusted to Vancouver Funeral Chapel
